Hollyhocks

A couple of years ago I planted six hollyhock seedlings.

I watered them and fed them and before long they were taller than me.

They were very well behaved and I thought they were quite pretty.

The next spring I saw little leaves poking up out of the ground where the hollyhocks had
been the year before.   How great!  They've come back and they've brought
some friends with them!

I saw another plant coming up clear across the driveway and lawn.

And a few more here and there in odd places.

The flowers were several shades of pink and burgundy.

And a few double white ruffly ones.

I still think they're so pretty.  But they're not very well behaved.

Obviously they love to party!

So perfect for a cottage garden.

  3. Hello Mimi, love the Hollyhock post, they are an old fashion favorite for sure. I can`t seem to grow them though, tried and tried, don`t like to party here I guess. Your cottage garden is so pretty, Blessings Francine.

  5. The white ruffly looks like chiffon. Beautiful! You must be living right, because everything dies over here. I'm a sinner.
