Lettuce in a Wheelbarrow

Our lettuce is done for the summer, it sure doesn't like the heat we've been having. I planted this little child size wheelbarrow with mixed lettuce seeds in April and we've been enjoying the lettuce since June. I just go out with my kitchen shears and harvest a couple of handfuls every few days. Fresh lettuce right out of the garden is wonderful. I'm going to miss it.

  2. Our garden is just getting started. We've been eating zuchinnis but the tomatoes aren't ready yet. The cucumbers and cantaloupe aren't doing so well.
Cute idea to plant in the wheelbarrow.

  5. I love the idea of planting it in the wheelbarrow. Your home must be so special to visit.
Our garden and yard is probably the worst we have ever seen. It is extremely dry. I do hope yours is growing and thriving despite the heat!

  6. That's such a cute way to plant it--too bad you can't just wheel it to the shade and make it keep growing.
I feel like lettuce right now. And my kids are jalapenos--of course. ;)

  7. I love your little wheelbarrow. Its been so hot here too, everything is wilting. I have so much problems with ground squirrels eating my vegetables that I have given up on my vegetable garden. I planted upside down tomato plants hanging in my patio thinking, hey the squirrels can't get these. WRONG, all I find is the tomato seeds and skins laying on the floor! I think if I planted in a wheelbarrow they would think it was the tray at the all you can eat buffet.
