If the Shoe Fits

When I saw a cute witches shoe at Swiss Days last month I thought I should have one. I do have a lot, OK, too many Halloween decorations so I put the little shoe back and decided to leave it for someone else. When I got home I was sorry it didn't come home with me because, really, can anyone have too many Halloween decorations? So I decided to try and make one myself. The first thing I did was draw a pattern on some newspaper.

I cut the boot out of plain muslin, stitched it up, stuffed it, spray painted it black, and while it was still a little wet, sprinkled a little purple glitter on it.

Then I gathered up some old Christmas garlands, pulled them apart, spray painted some of it black, and left some of it sparkly.

Hot glued a bunch of it on top and embellished the boot with other Halloweeny stuff.

I think it turned out pretty cute. Not exactly like the one at Swiss Days but waaay less expensive. And you know what they say..."If the shoe fits...."

The witches shoe turned out fabulous! Why would you buy one when you can make such a great one yourself?

  8. Mimi Sue,
Love your boot! The ones at swiss days were ordered wholesale, they did not make them. Yours, hand made and adorable.

  11. You did a GREAT job on your shoe! If you can design your own pattern and sew it up like that, I know you'll make a good quilter if you give it a try.

  14. That looks pretty dang good. I'm forwarding this to my mom--she was eyeballing them at Swiss Days too. Maybe I'll try to make one for her, since I can spray paint again. :)
Thanks for coming over yesterday--It forced me to pick up really well (and hide our basker of junk in the laundry room) and it still looks almost as clean today--except the couch cushions are currently piled up and being used as a slide. Forget the one outside it took Dad a week to assemble. ;)
