Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Ironing Board and Iron

Take a look at what I found the other day.

Isn't it cute?

I might even let my grandchildren play with it.

Look Who's Potty Trained

The mister thinks I shouldn't post this picture.  He's pretty sure this little sweetpea will be traumatized for life.   Please note his reading material.
We like to raise boys that are in touch with their feminine side.

Free Spring Scarves

A few weeks ago while wandering around blogland I saw this adorable
idea on the DIYdish.  It's a cute scarf made out of an old T shirt.  It's lightweight
and can be made in springy colors to match the season.

First you take an old shirt that you won't mind cutting up.
Draw some circles on it.  This was a size large and I was able
to make 3 circles on the front and 3 on the back.

My most excellent pattern was a paper plate.
This does not have to be very neat, just cut away.

Then spiral cut the circle.   It doesn't have to be precise.  Again, just cut away.
Give it a gentle pull to straighten out the spiral into a long strip.
You could use fabric glue to glue the strips together (3 on one side, 3 on the other) but I just stitched them together with my sewing machine.  Go Here if you want to get a coherent tutorial on how to assemble this scarf!
I decided to make a couple to give away and one to keep for myself.
This is how they're supposed to look when they're finished.
The DIY dish has a couple of other easy scarves to make.  So go over and take a look.
And make something new for your spring wardrobe.

Multifunctional

Have you seen these little cupcake stands at Walmart?

$5.00

Over in the seasonal department along with the rest of the leftover Valentine stuff.

Of course mine's not actually holding a cupcake at the moment.

It's a bran muffin holder too.

Sunny and Warm

The Mister and I made a quick trip to sunny and warm Arizona last week.
I wore my flip flops for three days!

To see these cute kids get married.  (Our nephew and his new bride)

There was yummy cake.

And a delicious dinner.

And on our way home, in a little town out in the middle of nowhere, I found a new project.
I wonder why the mister said NO?

He can be so unreasonable sometimes!

Snow Jealous!

A big thank you to the blogs from Southern California, Florida, South Carolina and other warm places for showing the
beautiful blooms that are showing up in your gardens.  Well, I just thought I'd show you what showed up
in my garden last night.  Don't be jealous!

I know!  Aren't we lucky?  You girls in your flip flops should
spend one moment tomorrow thinking of us northern girls who are
still in their wool socks and boots.  And share some more of your pretty
flower pictures with us!  We'd sure appreciate it!

Soup and Salad Dinner

My car is full of salad makings for our annual Soup and Salad Dinner
at our church.  Lots of work and lots of fun.

Thank goodness for Costco!

It's a Sickness

In the past couple of months I've added a few dishes to my ever growing collection.
These adorable Johnson Brothers dinner and salad plates...

And these plain white dishes found at the Dollar Store...  (I saw them last spring and went home to think about whether I should buy them or not, and when I went back for them a few days later they were all gone.)
I love white dishes.  They look good with just about anything.  Love them at Christmas with a red and white checked tablecloth or for Easter dinner with pastel linens.

Love their details.  A big thank you to Robyn at The Pink Peony of Le Jardin for letting her readers know they had a new supply.
 I bought a few...
I just couldn't help myself.

Gray and cloudy days make for shadowy pictures, sorry.
