Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Thomas S Monson

I have so many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Not the least of these things is you!

Pinterest Projects

I've been spending a little too much time on
Pinterest lately.  But there sure are some
cute ideas all over that website.

Saw this easy idea there.

I had to make a couple for the
California sweetpeas.

And a baby one for their little cousin.

Super Cute!

Should I make one for me?

Baby Turkey

Saw this cute idea on Pinterest.

Had to make one for our newest little grandgirl Margaret.

Probably won't wash very well since it's made out of grosgrain ribbon.

She's gonna be adorable for Thanksgiving.

Where did this week go?  Time is flying by waaay to fast.

Sunday Sayings

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."  Melody Beattie

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Don't you think it's a little early in the year for this?

The temperature this morning.

Not good for my roses.

Brittle

Have you ever made peanut brittle?  It's pretty easy and sooo yummy.

It does have a few calories.

But it's totally worth it.

Bag it up in a nice little cellophane bag, tie a cute ribbon around it, and you've got a great gift
for a neighbor or friend.

Nut Brittle

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp light corn syrup
2 cups peanuts (or any nuts will do)

Melt butter in a large, heavy pan over high heat.  Add the rest of the
ingredients and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat to medium and stir constantly
until the temperature reaches 300 degrees on a candy thermometer.
Quickly pour candy on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet (with sides).

Let cool then break apart.
