Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Vintage Embroidery

I love these embroidered pieces. Whenever I find one at a garage sale, thrift store, or antique shop I snatch it up. Someone's put a lot of time and effort into stitching these things, so I take them home and love them.I like the ones with little cottages, are you surprised? But gardens with flowers and birds are high on my favorites list. My adorable blog friend Gayle found this one at a thrift store and thought of me. I was so thrilled when she brought it over. THANK YOU Gayle!

I also like sweet sentiments. Like Home Sweet Home or cute little sayings. This one says "A person roams the world over in search of what one needs and returns home to find it." Can anything be truer than that?

Most of the time they're not framed so I find a frame at the thrift store, paint it the right color, and frame the stitchery. Sometimes I need a mat cut, which is pretty inexpensive. It really dresses them up, don't you think?

I'm starting to hang these in my hall that goes out to the garage. Just one of my little collections that makes me happy.

I love them too! I wish I could find such sweet treasures! The time and love it took to make them is a treasure in and of it's self...you are so lucky to have them. :D

I love embroidered pieces too! That last one is so sweet.

O.K. I'm so glad I'm not the only one that got the wrong trees last year! I used an entire bottle of bleach and like you left them overnight and not one bit of difference! Thank goodness I found the right ones this time (they bleach in like 10 minutes)!

You and my mother have the same taste. She loves these cross stitch thingies too. Me? Not so much, maybe if I ever did one I would appreciate them more. SO much work! :)

I love them too! I always wonder why they were given away don't you?
How are you by the way? I have been busy and not doing much blogging. I'm behind on everybody :-)
Enjoy your day.

I think those are precious! I like to get hand painted things at yard sales for the same reason - that someone spent a lot of time creating something themselves.
