Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Mimi's Valentine Cottage

Mimi's Cottage got a little Valentine foofing this past weekend.
I made a few little hearts to use in an apothecary jar.

A couple of people asked where I got the pink candy corn. I think I got it at the grocery store last year. Do not try to eat it! It's so hard it'll break a tooth! I googled Valentine candy corn and there were quite a few places where you could find some.

I've already told you a couple of times that I haven't had an original idea since 1986. Well, here's further proof. ML from the House of Whimsy posted one of these cute hearts on a stick so of course I had to copy. They're $1.00 marshmallow hearts from Walmart. Remove the plastic stick, wrap some scrapbook paper around a little dowel, attach a few leaves, replace the stem, stick them in a cute pot and you're done.

I saw this adorable heart in Cherry's etsy shop last year and had to have it. She has some wonderful things this year too. This little lamp hanger came from Cherry too. You can't tell from this picture but the ivy is in the shape of a heart.

I don't have a huge amount of Valentine decorations, but I do have a few things. I love the heart shape and it's out year round in wreaths and such. Valentine's Day comes at the perfect time. A little bright spot in the middle of a cold and gray winter. Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day filled with people and things that you love.

Your decorations all look so festive Mimi. Don't you love all the wonderful sellers on Etsy. I have a card that Cherry made...I try to buy from my favorites. I had to laugh about your comment regarding the candy corn. I'll try to remember if I ever come to your house NOT to try to eat it.

Hi Mimi, I loved visit through you valentine cottage. I have family for valentine crab dinner sunday and I want so badly to have some sweet decorations, but I have been so busy and crazy I haven't time to make them. Ok you say, why are you on the computer when you could be sewing cute hearts for your jars like Mimi, and I say, because I'm behind on my blogging and I'm going crazy.

OK, take a deep breath. I have to do a new post and then I sew... you'll see.

One of the dollar stores has the marshmallow hearts already made into lollipops; i think it was Dollar General, not sure.
Also, I saw the V'Day candy corn at WalMart last year.

Hi Mimi, I feeling better, I'm going in the shop for a few hours today, 1-3 and a few hours tomorrow, 11-2.

The shop is moving over to Gardner Village in the old White Shop. She needs to be moved in by March 1. I will be packing up today and tomorrow. We're still open though!

Mimi Sue,
I didn't know that was you! It hard to me to get connection between blog life & 'real' life. I am getting ready to put a lot more cute red & white country stuff on. Downsizing collections.
I love you look of "LOVE'! So pretty, and yes the snow is everywhere. Happy Valentines Day Lisa
