A couple of weeks ago Janis, Sue and I were out and about enjoying a little retail therapy when we came across this wonderful idea. One of our local quilt shops (Quilter's Haven) was giving out fabric and patterns to make these cute little "pillowcase" dresses for children who'd lost everything in the earthquake in Haiti. So we all took home a pattern and some fabric and made a little dress. (Janis made three!)Hundreds of them have been made with love by women in our community. I wish I'd taken a picture of the big pile of adorable little dresses for children in far away Haiti.

What a great idea! What adorable little dresses! Thanks for sharing!
I love it! I'm sure they'd be a snap to make, even without the pattern. Not that I could, but someone could, right? :) So great. That might just spur me on to doing something worthwhile today.
How wonderful Sue! Wish I'd known about it too!
What a great idea and so sweet of you to make one! How happy will those dresses make some little girls.
Oh that is so good... Is Quilter's Haven the shop in Colonial Square? If you get the chance, could you let me know?
It is adorable! What a wonderful thing the shop is doing and those who are sewing for these precious children.

Found your blog by way of "Cathy Cobblestone", love the dress you made. I have never heard of a pillowcase dress before. What a nice way to help the little girls of Haiti.
