Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Just a Bed of Roses

Just across from the old courthouse in Farmington, Utah there's an adorable little shop
called Just a Bed of Roses.
Brenda is the owner and she always has something that I simply can not
live without.

Yes, please Lord.

She sells a wonderful, eclectic mix of antiques, new items, handcrafted treasures,
jewelry, handbags, scarves, and this spring, plants.

Even seam binding in gorgeous colors.

Hippity, hoppity, Easter's on it's way.

Where did you find these oh so springish ornamental cabbages Brenda?

So if you're ever up this way, go spend some time at Just a Bed of Roses.  You won't be sorry.

The new hours are...

Thursday, Friday, Saturday  11 to 5:30

Creative Gifts from Creative Friends

I have some adorable and creative friends who are always bringing over
a little something that they've put together just for me.

My friend Janis made me this darling cakestand.

A clear drinking glass painted white and with red polka dot
stickers make up the base.  Then glued onto a red plate.

 I love it.

She also made me this candle holder. (It actually holds one of those little
battery operated tea lights.)  It's a page out of an old book with a heart
cutout in a thrift store jar.  I'm wanting to make a few of these with star cutouts for
the 4th of July.

Another handmade gift from Janis... a metal chalkboard painted heart on
a stick.  See the little spoon magnet?  Isn't it cute?

My friend Sue made me this adorable gift.

Two old books with covers removed some vintage lace
and a ribbon all tied up like a pretty package.

And an old key adds the perfect touch.

I so love these fun gifts from my fun friends.

Thank you again, ladies!

My Friend Michael

Have you been to Michael's lately?

Do you remember when they had cute little items for a dollar?

Well now they have cute little items for a dollar fifty.

Who says there's no inflation?

But I bought a few cute little items anyway.

Mary Englebreit I love you.

My spring cupcakes will be adorable.

I bought a little bird that was NOT in the dollar fifty section.

To be embellished for spring.

Another little bird, on a zippered pouch.

One dollar and fifty cents.

Yet another bird, this time on a notebook.  Also one fifty.

Thank you Michael.

Warm Hands Cool Hearts

When I was in California last month one of my adorable friends (Hi Diane!), made
me  one of these little handwarmers.  They're made of felt, filled with rice, and embellished
with scraps of fabric.  I loved mine so much that I had to make a few more for my Utah friends.

Just cut out two felt hearts about the size of your palm, sew on a smaller fabric heart,
sew the two felt hearts together, leaving a space to fill it with rice, (I used a funnel),
do a running stitch over the machine stitching with
embroidery thread, tie a fabric ribbon around it, and you're done.

When you're ready to go for a walk and it's a little chilly outside, just microwave
your little handwarmer for about 40 seconds, then slip it in your coat pocket.

The warmth seems to last for at least 45 minutes.

My friend Diane said she saw this cute idea on Pinterest.

I love mine.  Thank you Diane!

I've been a little distracted lately by this little guy.

Meet the newest member of our family...

He came to us through the Adopt Me Society, a wonderful rescue organization that takes care of
pregnant mommy dogs that are brought to animal control centers. Then they foster them out until after she delivers her puppies and then they find good homes for them.  And the mommy too.

He's a 10 week old puppy.

He's adorable, cuddly, funny, and smart.

He likes to chew on shoes, table legs, electrical cords, and anything else
that comes along.

It's hard to get a picture of a 10 week old puppy.

They never stop moving.

We're almost positive that someday he'll be house trained.

We're in love.

And just a little tired.

But in a good way.
