Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. A New Pantry Floor

Or how to make Mimi crazy.
We've been living with a subfloor in the pantry since we moved in two years ago. We've had the floor tile for the pantry sitting in our garage for a long time but other things needed to be completed that were more important. So Mimi tries to be patient and waits.
Last week, that's the week before Christmas, the Mister decides that the pantry floor should be installed. Today. Ummm. OK. I saw a picture of this floor in a Country Sampler Decorating Ideas magazine in 1999. I've been saving it for ten years! I hoped someday I'd have a place to install this floor.

It's red, pink, and white twelve inch linoleum tile. Not self stick, you have to use adhesive to glue it down.
Please notice the pantry door still needs to be trimmed.
But I do LOVE how it turned out. It really brightens up the pantry don't you think?

Merry Christmas (late)! Your floor is adorable, it looks just like a gingham checkered table cloth. It was worth waiting 10 years for, wasn't it?

That is adorable! I used those same kind of tiles but in black and white in our back entry. It is only about 4'x4' but the old grungy linoleum was ripped and just replacing it with the new tiles makes me smile every time I go to that door! Amazing how happy a small change like that can make you. I love how this looks like gingham. I would have never thought of that.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT Mimi. So fun, yes, it will be so fun to go in there.

Let's plan a day around Bed of Roses again. I haven't been since we were there. Brenda has sent me my copy of Summerset Life, but I am very excited to think about 2010.

Love ya

That is so freaking cute. I love it. I didn't know they made those tiles in pink and red--they didn't come from Home Depot did they?

One day, I'm gonna have to take a gander through your idea book. :)

Hi Mimi Sue,
who is looking at the door, when there is such a beautiful floor to look at, what a great job your dh did, i really like the colors of the tile.
And since I haven't been blogging lately I just had to go and see your Christmas pictures and loved everyone of them, and what cute and adorable girls in front of the Christmas tree.
Praying that you and your family will have a most blessed and joy filled New Year.
