Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Holiday Crackers

When I was in California last month I found this adorable idea at a little shop in Temecula.  The English call these small favor boxes crackers. They're little decorated tubes with treats inside, usually given as  gifts at
Christmas.  Although sometimes for other holidays too.

So I decided to make a couple.  Toilet paper rolls cardboard tubes are covered with crepe paper, then some scrapbook paper of your choice, a cute image from somewhere on the internet, a little glitter, a little tinsel, tie up the ends so nothing falls out and voila!

This is the one I bought for a pattern. And so I wouldn't forget that I wanted to make some.

They were so fun to make, quick and easy.  I filled them with some homemade caramels to give to a few friends.  I think I might have to make some for Christmas too.

We do make them for Christmas! I fill them with little trinkets for the kids and adults. A few dollar bills, some candy and voila! It's a party all it's own!
Yours look a lot cuter than mine!

Inspired, once again. I'm going to make some for Thanksgiving favors. But I'm taking all the credit, because I'm a compliment prostitute. :)

These would be perfect to make for Christmas too. There are so many wonderful images on the internet to use. I think I'll start saving my tp rolls :-)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh my I LOVE these!!! And Lisa won't make them for Thanksgiving because I will BEAT her to them! WHY?? Because 1) she can't find the print out on the internet. and 2) she's never used paypal to purchase said darling items. So I will win. THanks to you!

PS - do you know if there are any lots near you in that fabulous Historic Kaysville? Really... would love to build in Kaysville again ... but the neighborhood would have to be as darling as the historic part!

These are adorable! Thanks for sharing with us! I think I will try to make one. I was just down Temecula last week for breakfast at the Swing Inn. I tried walking around all the cute stores but my broken foot kept telling me to go home!
