Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. The First Harvest

Usually by the middle of July we're enjoying lots of produce from our garden.  But not this year.

It's been relatively cool here in northern Utah.  Not one single day in the 100's so far.

Our first picking of cucumbers, peppers, and Sunsugar cherry tomatoes.  Someone recommended the Sunsugars last year so we gave them a try. They are delicious.  Sweet and not too acidish  acidy.

We're looking forward to some great salads in August.

What's in your garden?

Zucchini, green beans, dill, basil, squash and tomatoes. We have only harvested some of the basil and zuchinni at this point but I can't wait for the tomatoes! I need to write down the name of the Sungold tomatoes to try next year, they sound wonderful!

We have been harvesting veggies for a couple months now. First we had peas, lettuce, radishes, beets and swiss chard. Then zuchinni, green beans and carrots. Now we have tomatoes, red peppers and yellow peppers....

Everything got such late starts this summer and then not much heat to help them grow. I love new potatoes and peas!

I think the word you were looking for is acidic! LOL We've picked green beans ONCE and got ONE zuchinni so far. Sigh - - - -

We've had so many tomatoes this year, and squash. Wish I would have planted more cucumbers. I've never heard of the Sunsugar tomatoes ~ sound good!

Wow I can't believe you are just getting produce from the garden. Are you near the Idaho border? You are way up there.

There's nothing like home-grown! We only have deck plants so cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes and Romas are what we grow. They are just starting to ripen. I like them fresh picked when they're still warm from the sun.

Looks like you planted some good things in your garden. So far I have picked one tomato and 3 green peppers! Yeah, this year's harvest has been slow.
