Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. The "Crap" Room

In between all the holiday festivities we've been working on the basement. We pretty much have the guestroom done, except for some furniture painting and putting stuff up on the walls. So we've turned our attention to the craft/sewing/other guestroom. The mister is getting good at hanging drywall. He also did the electrical and the baseboards and trim. We painted it a light aquaish color that I sort of copied from here. When the sweetpeas come to visit they'll sleep in here. We have an iron daybed that was their mommie's when she was a little girl. They also love to do "craps" so we'll have a place to spread out and get creative.

I was thinking about putting tile on the floor but it's pretty cold down there so we're trying carpet. Meet my new friend the carpet installer.I've been unpacking and sorting and organizing.I've found things I haven't even seen in 4 years. I've still got a lot of putting away to do. I'm looking for some cute storage. Any ideas?I bought this tree at the after Christmas sale at Target. The prelit tree and all the ornaments came to $16.00. I should be taking down my Christmas stuff, and I have a huge mess in there, and it's after Christmas, and I'm putting up another tree. It's a sickness, I tell you.

Looks like a lot of work but I bet it will be a lovely room. Great color you chose.

I'm cleaning and throwing out stuff too! Must be that time of year.

Have a great New Years!

Hey, I have a "Crap" room too, only mine is old and full of stuff I haven't seen for 10 years. As each of my kids moved out I took over their rooms for different purposes (Crap rooms)Heeheehee. Your carpet layer looks like the same one I had. He's good and did a really nice job. Happy new year. Janis

Ha ha--now you have to leave that tree up for a month to feed the sickness.

My Grandpa calls crafts "craps" too. He's always asking, "Are you going to the crap show?" He plays horseshoes all the time, so I asked my mom, "Is he going to the horsesh*@ throwing competition?" And now we know how truly crude and unladylike I really am.

I bet that room will be so cute. Maybe you can fill it with cute dressers to store stuff in. I don't know--you should see my house, it's a storage nightmare.

And that allsorts blog looks dang cute. Thanks a LOT for that new distraction! ;) I guess it was my choice to look.

Ok that tree is so darling. I love it. The room is going to be fabulous. I love my storage things from the container store. Especially what I keep my fat quarters in. If you go to the search site on my blog and search container store you will see some of them. I think!

That was a nice deal. Of course you had to put it up for a while! LOL Looking forward to seeing the guest room come together.
