Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. The Holidays in a Nutshell

I can't believe Christmas is over. December just flew by. I guess time goes by faster when you're busy and having fun. Here's the holidays in a nutshell....

I did some baking and candy making. This toffee is very good, you can get the recipe here. This was my grandma's pot. It's made of aluminum and it's probably toxic but nothing sticks to it. I make candy and jam in it and I love it.

Caramel corn in cellophane bags for neighbor gifts.I downloaded these tags from Better Homes and Gardens dot com. Aubrey, my new friend, told me about them. Thanks Aubrey.
I did a little sewing. Two Christmas stockings for the newest cupcakes in the family.
A Merry Christmas embroidery for my daughter in law.

Some wrapping and shipping.

I made another banner. The letters I downloaded from here. Love her blog.

Makes a statement, don't you think?

Plus a lot of cooking, cleaning, home touring, and finishing up the craft room. I'll show you that work in progress tomorrow.

Your homes tour looks so much like one a group of friends and I have done for about 10 years (we call it our "Progressive Luncheon and Holiday Homes Tour"). I hope to post about this year's soon--but I may be too late for this season.

I hope you New Year is grand and that you share LOTS more fun stuff with us! Dana

I can say with much authority that your toffee was the yummiest I have ever had. I feel so blessed to be one of your neighbors so that I get to enjoy not only your yummy treats but also your friendship. You rock Sue Sue! P.S I LOVE LOVE LOVE your holiday banner. I may just have to make myself one next year.

Your were a busy little bee!!!
I am so glad you made my delicious toffee. It's a wonderful recipe after being tweaked over the years. Your pan looks like the one I used to make caramel corn and peanut brittle inn besides the toffee.

Have a great day!
Beth
