Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Peach Shortcake

It's peach season here in northern Utah and they've been so delicious this year. I bought these at a local farm stand last week.
I peeled and sliced them and sprinkled about a half cup of sugar over them.
Then I made a little biscuity shortcake. I like the recipe on the Bisquick box. I pat them into a little roundish thick pancake shape. Then bake them in the oven. I like to serve them just a little warm.

You simply must whip up your very own whipped cream. It really makes a difference.
Split the shortcake in half and spoon on the peaches. Then spoon on the whipped cream. Then spoon some in your mouth. They're delish.

We use this same recipe for strawberry shortcake, of course. We also love blackberry shortcakes, really just about any fruit, or a mixture of fruits will do.

Yum,I haven't made anything with peaches this year yet, and I live in the "Land of Peaches & Cream".
Thanks for reminding me how great peaches are. Mumzie :)

This looks tasty. I've been converted to real whipping cream finally. Cool Whip just doesn't taste right. Except you know what converted me at first? Those adds comparing CW as a hydrogenated oil to the spray whipped cream as real dairy. So I guess I had to go through two levels of conversion.

Ten month pregnancy?! You did NOT tell me--I want to know. I made my mom go two weeks over and I was her first baby, so I'm sure she just loved it. I had the first two babies a few days early, but Sawyer was a whole week late. I didn't mind it except that everyone else due at the same time or after me (like Miss Nicole who was FIVE WEEKS behind me) had their babies BEFORE I did--even the couple adopting a baby in our ward came before Sawyer and was due after. But then I got the best baby ever, so it was okay.

Hi Sue....this looks too good...now you know I'm dieting!!
I just bought the last of our summer peaches from S.C. today...we can only eat them cut with a tad bit of sugar ontop...but they sure were good this year....but I would kill for a peach shortcake...
