Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. If the Shoe Fits

When I saw a cute witches shoe at Swiss Days last month I thought I should have one. I do have a lot, OK, too many Halloween decorations so I put the little shoe back and decided to leave it for someone else. When I got home I was sorry it didn't come home with me because, really, can anyone have too many Halloween decorations? So I decided to try and make one myself. The first thing I did was draw a pattern on some newspaper.

I cut the boot out of plain muslin, stitched it up, stuffed it, spray painted it black, and while it was still a little wet, sprinkled a little purple glitter on it.

Then I gathered up some old Christmas garlands, pulled them apart, spray painted some of it black, and left some of it sparkly.

Hot glued a bunch of it on top and embellished the boot with other Halloweeny stuff.

I think it turned out pretty cute. Not exactly like the one at Swiss Days but waaay less expensive. And you know what they say..."If the shoe fits...."

I have a pattern for a witches boot that I am going to make... I said this very same thing last year when I bought it. Maybe now I'll get around to it... Maybe... :)

Hi Mimi Sue
The witches shoe turned out fabulous! Why would you buy one when you can make such a great one yourself?

Mimi Sue,
Love your boot! The ones at swiss days were ordered wholesale, they did not make them. Yours, hand made and adorable.

You did a GREAT job on your shoe! If you can design your own pattern and sew it up like that, I know you'll make a good quilter if you give it a try.

That looks pretty dang good. I'm forwarding this to my mom--she was eyeballing them at Swiss Days too. Maybe I'll try to make one for her, since I can spray paint again. :)
Thanks for coming over yesterday--It forced me to pick up really well (and hide our basker of junk in the laundry room) and it still looks almost as clean today--except the couch cushions are currently piled up and being used as a slide. Forget the one outside it took Dad a week to assemble. ;)
