Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Protection

Did you know that you can buy carpet and have the carpet cut to the exact measurement you need and then have it bound around the edges? It makes a very nice custom area rug and it wasn't very expensive. Now my beautiful maple floor will be protected from the little scratches made by the dining area chairs. (even though the chairs had little felt pads on them) Practical and pretty don't you think?

Yes...a great idea, I did that once for a area rug. Your rug is very pretty too! I love wood floors but they do take work to protect them! Come say hi :D

Wow what a great idea. I have all hard wood flooring in my home. The floors are old and need some sprucing up. Maybe I could just buy a rug and cover up the little scratches :)
Have a great day!!!

That is a great idea. it has to be less expensive the buying an area rug because they are so pricey. How do you find someone to bind it?

I love it. What a good idea, I've thought of that for small rugs, but I love that idea for big ones, especially the pretty pattern you choose!

Love the pattern of this rug. I would love to have rugs and not wall-to-wall but we don't have hardwood floors...just sub-flooring-yuck! I just love to see the wood floor peeking out!

That looks so pretty, and I never knew you could do that. Of course, my whole house needs new carpet :-)

Mimi, This was such a funny post after having written a story, "Turn Your Rug". about turning bound rugs. I absolutely love them to pieces. I wanted to thank you for your comment about the little garland ornaments and tell you I got out my vintage Easter basket and tied one to the handle with ribbon - so sweet! An idea to share. Have a lovely weekend ahead! E
