Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Dresses For Haiti

A couple of weeks ago Janis, Sue and I were out and about enjoying a little retail therapy when we came across this wonderful idea. One of our local quilt shops (Quilter's Haven) was giving out fabric and patterns to make these cute little "pillowcase" dresses for children who'd lost everything in the earthquake in Haiti. So we all took home a pattern and some fabric and made a little dress. (Janis made three!)Hundreds of them have been made with love by women in our community. I wish I'd taken a picture of the big pile of adorable little dresses for children in far away Haiti.

I love it! I'm sure they'd be a snap to make, even without the pattern. Not that I could, but someone could, right? :) So great. That might just spur me on to doing something worthwhile today.

Oh that is so good... Is Quilter's Haven the shop in Colonial Square? If you get the chance, could you let me know?
