Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Cement

Last fall we decided to save the old chicken coop that's on our property.  We installed a new metal roof and everything stayed nice and dry last winter.  Our plan was to use the coop for garden tools, mowers, the rototiller, and miscellaneous storage.

This fall the Mister installed a cement ramp for all the heavy, motorized equipment that needed to get up into the coop.

He's also working on doors to keep everything dry inside.

I forgot to take a picture of the finished ramp...

Since we had to get a yard of cement, and the ramp wouldn't
need the whole yard, we decided to add some cement under the
gate into our vegetable garden.

And a walkway to our shed's patio.

I had to add a little something to the project.

This week I'll be enjoying these beautiful begonias.

Cause I'm pretty sure their days are numbered.

At our previous home, there was a chicken coop with electricity and running water. I used it for tools and built a dollhouse for our daughter every night for 6 weeks. But, it was ugly and before blogging and Pinterest. We tore it down and put a beautiful flower garden in its place.

I wish I had something like it in our garden for tools and decoration.

It looks like you have a bit of planting to do around some of the cement so have fun.

Wow, I could think of a ton of little projects I could do with a yard of cement! Love your little heart!

I'm finding the list of projects to finish before winter is growing and growing. Your new cement will come in handy once the weather gets wet. This weekend weather has been perfect!

I always enjoy reading about your projects. You and your husband are fearless. Your cement work is great...love the curved section you did. I had double begonias this year and they are beautiful right now but I'm sure they'll not last much longer. It's supposed to be pretty cold this week. They were outstanding this summer!
Have a great week!
