I did a little bulb planting this weekend. Narcissus in a jar with tall sides so when they grow they'll have the jar sides to lean against instead of fall over. I poured pea gravel in the bottom and stuck the bulbs on top. Then I poured in enough water to cover the gravel and set them in front of a window. Look, they're growing already. It's kind of tricky to time these things so they're blooming for Christmas. We'll have to see what happens.
This is a gorgeous amaryllis that a friend gave me for my birthday. It was already planted and ready to go. I love these plants and are so easy to grow, but again, timing the blooms can be tricky.
Lots and lots of festivities are happening between now and the middle of December. I'm trying to get organized so I can fit everything in and not go crazy. OK, not get too crazy. What do you do to get organized for the holidays?

I wish I was more organized! I tend to do a lot of last minute rushing around! School keeps me so busy that it is hard to get much done on the homefront!

Alas, I'm not so organized, even though I always wish I was. Like, I wanted some amaryllis bulbs blooming for Christmas, but I think I missed that window. I bet yours will look gorgeous.
I am so impressed! That is a really neat thing to try. Maybe next year for me? :)

I love narcissus....I hope yours bloom for the holidays. I have never tried to grow them before. It looks like it would be fun!
The 16th sounds great. I'm marking it on the calendar so my husband can't plan any stupid Scouts or YM stuff. I'm excited.
Oh I love the scent of narcissus! I have always admired them in magazines, grown in doors.

Great idea! I always think to do this when everyone's bulbs are blooming already! I hope I can find some bulbs.
