Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Veterans Day

Today I would like to thank all the Veterans of our wonderful country. My grandfather was a veteran of WWI. He lost a lung while he was serving our country. My father and mother are both veterans of WWII. My mom was in the Womens Army Medical Corp and was a Physical Therapist stationed in Hawaii at the rehab center in Oahu. My husband was drafted in 1967 and served in the army during the Viet Nam War. My son was in the Navy and served on the USS Elliot. Thank you to those who have helped us preserve our way of life and the many freedoms that we enjoy.

Sure appreciated your post, as I'm sure many others do too.
Thanks for coming by my place. You're so cute for noticing the polka-dot plate. I bought 12 of those when they went on clearance from Pottery Barn.com. I'm sorry if they're no longer available.
: ( But it's worth checking.
Take care,
M.L.

Oh my gosh, I am amazed at what a history your family has. I am sure the stories you have from your parents and grandfather (and husband and son) are just such a treasure. Happy Veterans Day to them all!

Wow, you have a lot of family members who have served! My dad was almost drafted to Vietnam, he just barely missed it! Aubrey said the house tours are set for the 16 or was it the 18th? Anyhow, I will definitely be there, thankyou so much for setting it up. Can I invite my mom and sisters??? Oh, I'm jealous your taking a quilting class. That house is darling, I used to make quilts when I worked at Sew N' Save, but that was a long time ago, I haven't made any since!
