Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Backyard Progress

Last week, besides having a wedding and wedding dinner at Mimi's Cottage, we made a little progress on our big backyard project. Cement was poured to connect two patios, a pad for the garbage cans, (isn't that exciting?) and another small patio by our new shed.
Oh, and a little shed porch.

Last week we had some good weather and made some good progress.

I see concrete, I think "oooh, more space to sit things that HE doesn't have to mow around anymore." That pad for the trashcans is a smart thing!

Loving the progress Mimi! It feels so good to see freshly poured cement doesn't it? Looks like you have been busy at your house with a bit of everything. HOpe you are hanging in there ;)

We poured concrete for our garbage cans last year and it left a smile on my mouth for weeks! Hidden from view on the back side of the home. You'll love it!

Did you two lay all that concrete yourselves? If so, we need lessons. It looks good--I can't wait to see our finished backyard and gardens. (You'll do a special bloggy open house right? ;) Yes, I'm so subtle.)

Your laundry room shutters are so so cute and now I want some! And your flowers out front look so pretty--I detour past your house on purpose to see them. Love your tulip on the door too--it inspired me to copy with a Mary Engelbreit-style flower that as yet still resides in my brain. I hope you had a nice Mother's Day--I can tell you're one really cool mom. I left a comment on that post today then realized you might not see it.

Whew--can you tell I'm a nerd and haven't looked at blogs in a while? My kids have been far too busy.

Well, look at all the projects you're crossing off your to-do list! Garbage can space isn't exciting or glamorous. But we all have to have it!

We've been painting around here. I guess it's just the time of year when you try to get all of those outdoor jobs done. Speaking of painting, we still have our shed to paint and I loved the light yellow color of yours. Do you know what he actual color is? I'd love to paint mine like that.
Blessings,
Marcia

Looking very good! I think trash can pads are the best idea. Wish I had one.
