Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Pioneer Day

Here in Utah we take our pioneer heritage seriously. In fact our beautiful state sets aside one day of the year to honor the pioneers who crossed the country looking for a new life. So today, July 24th, we salute the brave men and women who came to this territory and worked so hard and sacrificed so much. There will be parades, picnics, and fireworks. Plenty of family, food and fun. Hopefully we'll all take a moment and remember those who came before, laying the foundation for our great country, no matter where we live.
Happy Pioneer Day!

Happy Pioneer day to you today too! We arde on our way up to Alyamont to watch the parade. It goes down one side of the street, and then turns around and comes back! LOL
We will come home with a load of candy, mostly salt water taffy. It's fun.
Enjoy your day.

Happy Pioneer Day! Wish we didn't have to leave Utah last week...would have loved to go to a parade today!

So many in my family were those pioneers...I will think of them and celebrate in California today...

Thanks for sharing and enjoy the day!

Sue - We got to pull the Stake Float in the Ogden parade. Lots of hurry up and wait, but it was a fun experience.

Funny you would post a vegetable picture, because I actually just walked out back and into my BRAND NEW THIS YEAR SQUARE FOOT GARDEN, and picked my very own zucchini and squash, which we promptly steamed and snarfed. HAPPY 24th OF JULY! Love those pioneers!

Love to celebrate the pioneers and my Utah heritage! We had a little pioneer pancake breakfast at the church house this morning at 7 am. Other pioneer celebrations happening all over AZ too!
