Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Trailer Bedroom Makeover

The Mister and I have a 5th wheel trailer that we use now and then.

Last fall we towed it from northern Utah all the way to the Mississippi River.

In January we took it to southern California where it was sunnier and warmer
and visited with family and friends.

During the spring and summer we took a few days here and there and enjoyed
the wonders of our beautiful state.

It's just so fun to get away and sit by a river somewhere and see
new scenery and meet new people.

But the trailer needed a little makeover.

I thought maybe I should do something to the blah
interior of our little home on wheels.

See that fabric insert?

Blah.

A little blue checked fabric really brightened up that space, don't you think?

Why, yes, that is a vintage chenille bedspread!

We took down the ratty mini blinds and I made some insulated
roll-up curtains out of a couple of curtain panels from Martha
Stewart's line from a few years ago.

So glad we have white cabinets throughout our little trailer.

So happy with the way it turned out.

I asked the Mister if any of his friends would laugh if
we went camping with flowered curtains on our windows.

He kind of rolled his eyes and said everyone
knows who he's married to and no one would be a bit surprised.

Not sure how to take that.

Maybe next year I'll have to work on the rest of the trailer.

I have always wanted to fix up a little camper/trailer like those you see on Pinterest. I think yours looks bright and cheerful. How fun to be able to get away and still have the comforts of home.
P.S. I'm up late with some insomnia tonight. I hate it when I can't sleep.

Great job Sue! I've always thought it would be fun to do this to OUR 5th wheel, but have never had the gumption.

Ha! I love it. Were the blinds easy or hard. They look uber to me. (uber is my new "hip" word.....I am a little slow, and just learned it....and yeah, I'm uber lame! Lol)
I also like your white cupboards. I love love the sweet little camper pillow. And your misters comment. Made me smile.
So here's a link to Rene's little trailer, with a chandelier in it. Just fun. http://missgracieshouse.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-maiden-voyage-part-two.html
Enjoy.

I love the make-over Mimi! I sure wish our's had white cabinets in it too. I have foofed ours up too and Dale says the same thing when I asked him if his buddies would feel uncomfortable in it.
I want to find the person that chooses the fabrics for campers and give him a piece of my mind (and some fabric swatches : )

That is such gorgeous fabric!! The blue checked fabric really does brighten up the space and the flowered fabric blinds are just gorgeous!

How fun to have a camper and be able to go to so many different places. It's something my husband has always wanted to do.
