Mimi Sue's Cottage

A home is much more than a house built of lumber, brick, or stone. A home is made of love, sacrifice, and respect. We are responsible for the homes we build. We must build wisely, for eternity is not a short voyage. There will be calm and wind, sunlight and shadows, joy and sorrow. But if we really try, our home can be a bit of heaven here on earth. Wash Stand

Last week I bought an antique washstand from a friend of a friend.
I'm going to use it in our guestroom as a bedside table.

She has another one available if anyone is interested.

It'd be adorable painted white don't you think?

Or do you believe good wood should never be painted?

Just email me if you're interested.

It's beautiful. I like white furniture but I have trouble painting vintage pieces although I have a dresser that is similar that is painted white. I've had it for years, and it was white when I got it :-)
Happy Mother's Day Mimi Sue!
Blessings,
Marcia

I think it would look great in white. If you like dark wood than it should stay. I am no help am I? Happy Mother's day to you.

It would look great both ways. If it were mine I would be torn about painting it or leaving it. Either way, I'm sure it will look fantastic.

I had one which was almost identical to this one for over 25 years. I sold it last year at my garage sale...needless it was the talk of the street that day! Anyway, an antique dealer bought it and he promised NOT to paint it white. The wood was beautiful and he thought it should be preserved. I've antiqued many a piece, but if the wood is in good shape I believe you should keep it that way. Good Luck! Mumzie

My Hubby loves the natural stains, but I have started appreciating painting furniture... I love bold & pastel colors on furniture lately. The thing is, painting doesn't ruin furniture like it use to. There are safe ways to remove & change back now. My daughters have some lovely vintage vanities that I would love to see painted. Hubby would die...

That is a beautiful piece of furniture just the way it is but I can also picture it in white. I wish I had room for the other one.

What a beautiful wash stand, Mimi! I love the original wood but sometimes pieces just look better painted depending on the rest of your decor.

Have a good weekend!

Donna
